Understanding the Underlying Mechanisms of Action for Successful Implementation of Social Prescribing

There is growing evidence for the use of social prescribing as a means facilitating healthy lifestyle behavior changes by linking patients to sources support in community. However, there are gaps understanding about what works facilitate and enable this change i.e. , mechanisms actions underpinning delivery. This study used qualitative approach involving interviews with 18 Social Prescription Link Workers (SPLWs). Reflective thematic analysis was analyze data. Through this, an overall theme “Theoretical underpinning: Solution-focused strengths-based” identified. made up sub-themes relating SPLWs’ role (comprising asking questions, motivational interviewing therapeutic alliance); patients’ role, (empowerment active engagement); adopted (solution building, goal action orientated). To formalize framework could be developed SPLWs that encapsulates solution-focused strengths-based application within prescribing. can then embedded into practice more successful patients.
